Supongamos que tenemos un cubo. Si lo cortamos con un plano, podemos obtener todo tipo de secciones en el corte: cuadrados, rectándulos, triángulos (si cortamos una esquina). Bien, la idea es cortar un cubo de forma que la sección resultante sea un hexágono. La idea es resolverlo sin dibujar.

Sorpresa en la revista de Digital+ de este mes. Resulta que Cartoon Network va a emitir a partir del día 10 una serie de 20 cortos de animación dedicados a las guerras clon y que tendrán como protagonistas a Obi-Wan, Anakin y el maestro Yoda. Hasta aquí todo bien, sobre todo para amantes de La guerra de las galaxias. Lo realmente genial del asunto es que el encargado de la serie es Genndy Tartakovsky. Genndy Tartakovsky es el genio detrás de series como El laboratorio de Dexter, Las supernenas y esa absoluta maravilla que es Samurai Jack (una serie de animación de gran belleza plástica y que hace uso de todos los trucos que permite el medio.):
«I was contacted because I’ve always been very vocal that I’m a Star Wars fan and would love to work on it,» says Tartakovsky. «So, the Cartoon Network came up to me and asked me to put a little pitch together. We came up with this idea of doing a Clone Wars-style story with a Band of Brothers-feel to it — where it’s episodes of different battles and strategies during the Clone Wars. We went up to Lucasfilm and pitched it, and everyone enjoyed it, and it just came together.»

Since «Samurai Jack» debuted in 2001, critics and animation buffs have lauded its deft mixture of minimalism and spectacle, and its cinematic scope that evokes feelings of a Kurosawa epic – definitely a far cry from what television animation was just a few years ago. Tartakovsky promises similar attention to detail with Star Wars: Clone Wars. «It’s going to be very high quality,» he says. «It’ll be like little mini-features, because everything is really hand-crafted and we’re really taking our time with everything because we respect Star Wars so much.»

Más conocido en el mundo de la ciencia ficción como Hal Clement, su obra más famosa es Misión de gravedad, falleció el pasado día 29. El New York Times le dedica unas líneas:
More than 18 Hal Clement books appeared during Mr. Stubbs’s 62-year career. He chose his pen name in 1941, when he sold his first short story to Astounding Science Fiction while a Harvard undergraduate. Having just published two articles under his own name in astronomy journals, he feared his professors would disapprove of his appearance in a pulp publication. By the time he discovered that they had no objections, Hal Clement was a respected name in science fiction, so he kept it.
