Lo de esta empresa es impresionante. En medio de una declive mundial del sector de la telecomunicaciones son capaces de ganar dinero, duplicar los beneficios y de paso hacerse con el 38% del mercado. Aunque no todo es de color de rosas para la compañía. El futuro se presenta complicado:

Nokia’s chief executive, Jorma Ollila, said the mobile market was moving into a new phase of advanced features and services, driven by colour screens, imaging, messaging and mobile games.

And he said he was determined that Nokia would be at the forefront of these developments.

But sales of the latest colour-screen models have not been as good as hoped for.

Mr Ollila also cautioned that handset prices were likely to be raised after March.

Wireless Blogging With a Real-Time Twist de NYTimes (hace falta registrarse gratuitamente) habla del servicio Hiptop Nation:

«Hiptop Nation is a place where people share their experiences with the world while wandering around with these little Sidekick devices with cameras,» said John Lester, a 35-year-old Boston resident and one of about 300 participants at Hiptop Nation (www.hiptop.bedope.com). «It gives you a sense of connectedness because not only are people posting to the blog wirelessly but they’re reading it wirelessly.»

El Sidekick es un pequeño dispositivo inalámbrico que además permite sacar fotografías. El artículo destaca la inmediata interacción en tiempo real que se obtiene con un lugar de reunión en el ciberespacio y las posibilidades de comunicación móvil.
